I'm currently an art director at Grey New York where I work on Tums and Breathe Right. Before that I went to every state in America for a Kickstarter project. And before that I freelanced at Leo Burnett New York, where I found out I was really good at drawing animals. And around all that, I'm working on different products for my online store.
These are some ads, projects and animals drawings I've created.
ADS I'VE MADE
In 2017, at the beginning of a new political climate, AARP needed a new campaign to help Americans remember AARP's humble beginnings and what they stand for.
(Just to note because AARP is an American institution: AARP is an organization to help the betterment of those 50-years-old and beyond)
Panadol Cold and Flu Commercials
This commercial for Panadol Cold & Flu ran in Southeast Asia.
Oriental Tailor Shop
My parents, aunt and uncle opened a tailor shop shortly after immigrating to America in 1975. After finding these photographs of my parents proudly posing in front of their store since 1976, I wrote some ads celebrating them, their store I grew up in, and their achieved American dream.
As an intern at BBH, my team and I developed sartalics, a left-leaning kind of italics to show you’re being sarcastic online. To help support the idea, I wrote these ads using my photographs.
PROJECTS I'VE DONE
In 2013, I went on a Kickstarter-funded, 50-state, 99-day road trip to learn why locals called their state home. I put all my learnings and photographs together to make a bunch of posters, postcards and a couple books.
Below is the video of the Kickstarter video, project video and sample spreads from the book.

Ego's Deck Dream Instagram
Every day from June 18, 2016, to June 18, 2017, I imagined what my dog dreams of what was beyond her deck's walls. Below are some of my favorites.
New York City Skyline Index
After my roommates and I moved to our apartment, we'd have to guests over, look out from Ego's Deck, and ask, "What building is that?" Though I'm usually ok with saying "I don't know," I don't like being a bad host with zero knowledge of what exactly we're looking at. I mean, I didn't minor in art history to not be able to tell the difference between Monet and Manet.
I made this poster and labeled it with notable buildings, so now people will stop asking whether that building over there is the Empire State of Chrysler.
Rockets Space Patches
I remember watching the Rockets win their first championship with my dad in 1994, because we had to order Pay-Per-View and my mom ordered us pizza and that was a huge deal. I've been a fan ever since and to celebrate their 50 seasons, I designed nine space patches for their nine hallmark seasons (because I also love NASA).
I needed a way to keep detailed notes on my projects, but my regular notebook wouldn't suffice. Inspired by dentists' charts and notes (I used to be a dental assistant), I made my own using some leftover patterns I painted
In it, I can keep track of the project's color palettes and brushes, etc. This way, whenever I open up the Photoshop file at a later date, I'll know why I have so many inexplicable layers.
Nathan Hoang Style Guide v3.0
After six years, I finally refreshed my style guide to include things like work flow, how to organize music in iTunes, and Wacom pen settings.
Take a look below to understand why I don't like to wear sneakers with laces (page 30).
Mud coffee is perhaps the best drip coffee I’ve ever had in my life so I decided I’d paint their three properties with their own coffee.
Flag of the World Pop-Up Book
In 2010, I was immobile from an ACL tear, so I watched a lot of World Cup and noticed how there were overlaps in flag designs. So I made this pop-up book to make sense of it all while all my friends played soccer.
The Sports Calendar
I wanted to know when I could expect to tune back into SportsCenter after baseball season was over, so I designed this chart and made it into a clock that takes a year to make one full revolution.

P.S. My roommates’ dog moved to Amsterdam
And this is a painting I did of her traveling to Amsterdam.
